Rare “folding cheval de frise” comprising six triangular bayonet-type blades, folding, mounted on articulated frame functions as axis with brass push button which allows the unlocking of two blades at the ends which affixes in a star-position.
Within its rare striped black leather case of origin with cut-out brass cap

Manufacturing attributed to citizen Latour, Paris, circa 1798

Length of blades: 53 cm (1-3/4 ft.).

Note: An identical example bearing the manufacturer’s mark “Fabriqué par le citoyen Latour rue de l’Université n°281, l’An IV de la République Paris” exists. Cf : Tajan, 10th December 2005, lot n°211.
